Description of Significance SHADY POINT SCHOOL IS A SINGLE-STORY RECTANGULAR BUILDING CONSTRUCTED BY THE WPA IN 1936. CLAD IN CUT AND ROUGHLY COURSED NATIVE SANDSTONE, THIS SCHOOLHOUSE HAS A HIPPED ROOF WITH A GABLED DORMER ABOVE THE FRONT ENTRY. CONSTRUCTION OF THE BUILDING HELPED TO PROVIDE JOBS FOR THE LOCAL UNEMPLOYED, WHO HAD BEEN HIT ESPECIALLY HARD BY THE GREAT DEPRESSION. LISTED IN NATIONAL REGISTER 9/8/1988. DESTORYED BY FIRE.
